UPGRADING FROM MFT/MLT(SYNC2) TO SYNC3 - If you are replacing MFT/MLT(SYNC2) with SYNC3 here is your REQUIRED purchase list: 

  • SYNC 3 APIM (varying models available in store - you choose based on your needs/preferences)
  • SYNC 3 Screen - (SYNC2 screens are NOT compatible with SYNC3) 
  • APIM Programming 
  • GPS Antenna/APIM to Screen Cable/USB Media Bay Kit - Required for  all Upgrades
  • Note that SYNC3 does not support video in or line in audio like MFT/SYNC2 does - You will lose these functions.
  • You will transfer your existing screen brackets (Some Lincoln Models such as the MKZ may require slight modification)
  • I do not purchase your old system...I recommend you keep it.

All APIMS support Android Auto/CarPlay and have latest official public software release unless noted otherwise.  CarPlay requires CarPlay compliant USB hub.

The big difference between myself and other sellers is the information disclosed on the APIMs I use.  I break down the APIMs to generations (I was the first to do this) and for navigation models, what mapping they have installed.  Unlike other sellers I will not sell a 1st generation APIM (again a first in the market).  These are known to have a higher than normal failure rate and also have a known cold weather defect.  No one else discloses this that I know of.  Based on information provided by Ford I know which APIMs this affects and will not sell those (which also affects some generation 2 APIMs as well…I won’t sell those that are affected without disclosing that it is one of these models).
